Introducing Precious
Stories like Precious’s are why partnerships between shelters and rescues are so important. Guilford County Animal Shelter provided her with time and care when she needed it most, and SPCA of the Triad stepped in to continue that support, giving her a second chance.
Precious is a 14-year-old dog whose world was turned upside down through no fault of her own. She was placed at Guilford County Animal Shelter after her owner’s home was condemned, leaving her family with nowhere to go.
When our team from SPCA of the Triad was at the shelter to transport other animals into our care, we met Precious and instantly fell in love. As we learned her story, it became even clearer just how special she is. The shelter went above and beyond, holding all the pets from the property for 10 days to give the family time to secure new housing. When those 10 days passed without a solution, they extended an additional 10 days in hopes of keeping this family together.
Sadly, despite their efforts, Precious’s family was unable to find housing that would allow them to keep her. With heavy hearts, they made the incredibly difficult decision to surrender her so she could have a chance at a safe and stable future.
As soon as we were notified, we immediately went to bring Precious into our care. Precious may be 14 years old, but don’t let that number fool you; she is full of life, love, and so much personality. She still has so much joy to give and is ready to spend her golden years in a warm, loving home. Senior dogs like Precious are often overlooked, but they are truly some of the most rewarding companions. She deserves comfort, stability, and a family to call her own again. Precious’s story is a powerful reminder of why partnerships between shelters and rescues are so important.
If you’re looking for a loyal, loving companion and want to make a life-changing difference, please consider giving Precious the second chance she so deeply deserves.

Precious is fine with other dogs - she simply acknowledges them and moves on about her business. She is fine with lots of different people holding her and passing her around. She walks great on a leash, and you can tell she likes to go on adventure walks.
