95.4% of adoptions happen across more than 13,000 shelters and rescues of varying sizes. The majority of adoption activity is distributed across thousands of organizations working in communities nationwide.

85.0% of U.S. shelters and rescues adopt out 500 or fewer animals per year

Nearly half of all organizations (49.7%) adopt 100 or fewer animals per year.
