ANIMAL NEGLECT, ABUSE, OVER POPULATION
HOW YOU CAN HELP NOW!

Many of you saw the story on Animal Abuse in the Sunday 1/10/2010 edition of the News and Record.   If you are on our web site there is a strong possibility you want to know what you can do now to help prevent the sad story of animal neglect and abuse from continuing.   Listed below are steps that you take to help.

1.Gather support for tougher laws against people who deliberately abuse or simply neglect the animal’s welfare.   Tell your friends about the News and Record Animal Abuse story.   Ask them to sign a petition   requesting tougher laws against animal abuse and neglect.  Send the signatures to your city, county and state legislators, you can find this at www.ncvaw.org

2.Attend the Guilford County Commissioners meetings.  You can speak up for animal rights at these meetings.  Let your Commissioners know this is an important issue and you want their support. County Commissioners meetings are on Thursdays at 6:00pm.

3.Spay and Neuter your animals.  Spread the word to everyone that population control is critical.  Shelters continue to be over crowded and far too many wonderful animals are killed every day because there is no room and no money to care for them.  Did you know the SPCA provides financial aid to persons who need help getting their pets spayed or neutered?  If you know someone who needs this aid have them contact the SPCA at 375-3222.

4.Donate – The SPCA of the Triad, a no kill shelter, is funded completely by your donations and grants. Click the donate now button to make your tax deductable contribution.  Your money will be used to vaccinate, feed and generally care for the many adoptable animals that come to us on a daily basis.  Additionally, the money is used to provide financial aid to families who need assistance to pay for care for their pets during this tough financial time.

5.Volunteer - We operate with a small paid staff and many volunteers.  You can call the center 375-3222 to discuss volunteering opportunities.  In addition to working directly with the animals, we need help writing grant requests, planning fund raising events and many other activities that you can do right from your home.
